A good cat eye never really goes out of style, and that was never more clear than at Paris
Fashion Week,
which wrapped up Wednesday. For their A/W 2014 shows, designers from
Chanel to Kenzo paired the clothes with ’60s-influenced, high-drama
winged liner: mostly in electric hues and all of it laid on thick.

Once you master the technique, it’s such a fun and
quick way
to glam up your makeup for night. If you’re thinking of trying it
out—whether in basic black or a more daring hue—our pick of the moment
is
Inglot Cosmetics AMC Eyeliner Gel ($12). Aside from the fact that there are 22 shades to pick from, the product is also one of the
highest rated of its type. Member
Tiffany T. says she’ll “never purchase another liner” and
Lorena C. deemed it a definite “Holy Grail item.” The formula is paraben-free, as pigmented as you can get, and
will not budge.
Check a
basic tutorial here (for this product, you’ll need a
liner brush) and see some of our favorite runway shots below for inspiration.

Blue Velvet

Fun fact: When Kenzo designers Humberto Leon and Carol Lim explained
that their A/W 2014 collection was inspired by filmmaker David Lynch,
MAC makeup artist Aaron De Mey created this electric take on the cat eye as an homage to the 1986 classic
Blue Velvet. Color picks: 83 | shop it
